I get overwhelmed choosing the color for a pedicure. What if I hate it and then I'm stuck staring at it for weeks?? It's hard to tell the color sometimes! Normally I just stay in the red/coral color line. Boring but true. Last week I took the suggestion of the lady doing my nails. She picked out Essie's Secret Stash. Not a radical change from red/coral but at first I was like - way too fuchsia for me. It is a little on the bubble gum side, but I liked the name, and after looking at the color for awhile, I was ready to commit to it. Best decision ever. I am really pleased with the color, and I got slightly (v. v. slight) tan at the beach, and it makes the color really look good. If I really worked on my tan this summer the color would be really HoT.
I know people like Essie, but this was my first experience with the brand. Usually I like the OPI selection. Does Essie have more selection or better colors? Or is it just a matter of personal preference?

the N&O had a foot-care feature yesterday where they discussed Essie polishes. they looked prettttttty appealing, I have to say. and it's a cute color. is it more expensive than opi?
Great topic for discussion. I've been known to steer clear of Essie in the past, only because I tend to find it a little more matte (translation: boring) and less of a range in color. Although, this is coming from someone who spent most of middle school painting my nails turquoise with confetti sparkles.... So I usually go for OPI because I like their shimmer and their "themes." They come up with such clever names! Lindsey and I have wanted a career as an OPI name creator for years. No, really, I'm not making that up.
But back to the product itself. When I'm forced to use it at a nalon salon that only carries this brand, I'm not disappointed. In fact, the last time I got a pedicure, I went for Essie Watermelon - and I was very pleased with the results! The Essie website describes the color as "A refreshing juicy deep peach." Which is combining two fruits that are not exactly similar in color, but a mouth-watering description nonetheless. I recommend it for summer, it looks great with sandals.
So all in all, with a pricetag of $8(which is the same as OPI from what I can remember), I think it's a refreshing change if you're looking for a more matte nailpolish in the red/pink color family.
